It's not pretty, it's not extravagant, it's not 'out of the ordinary'.... but have you ever had a favorite sweatshirt you jsut can't throw away because it feels good? Or the sneakers you walk right through the bottome of because no matter how horrible they looked, you loved them? That's me and this cabin. It just felt like home from day one. Ya know, there's been two murders here.... I haven't had any troubles..... feels like it's just meant to be. |
I drew up nice plans for |

I wanted a modest screened in porch with windows I could cover in the winter time. |

| HEY! Quit laughing at my porch!! My Sister and my nephews came up here and built that porch in one day. Yeah, I know it shows, but it serves it's purpose. | |

| You cannot however keep the Umpires in a screened in porch.
By the end of the summer I lost all but three screens! That's just part of
the joy of having a dog so tall on all fours, let alone when he stands up!
The 'junk' pile... is lumber for making birdhouses. A summer hobby of mine.
The wood has to set out for a season to weather. Or else the birdhouses hang
for a year empty. They don't like new wood. Picky picky!

This
year I wrapped the porch in Tyvek house wrap. It's incredibly helpful, but
it's driving me nuts that it was put on upside down. Anal, I know. I will be
taking it down as soon as I have screen to recover the windows. At some point
I would like to tear the whole porch down and have it rebuilt, correctly, insulation
to outlets. Then I would have a livingroom. We could sure use the space. In
the wintertime this place get's very crowded!
