Some of my favorite verses & why
I don't cart around my
Bible, but for several years i did cart around a little card that had certain
verses on both sides, laminated, that I couldn't get through the day without.
I have never found a problem yet that I couldn't find the answer to in
the Bible. If you seek it, you will find it. Directions,
instructions, guidence, advice, solace, comfort, encouragement, support,
....it's all there.
Here are some of my favorite verses. |
=
Verses I found especially helpful in grief / mourning.
= A favorite, favorite |
Even our Father has
secrets
Deuteronomy 29:29 (He tells us what we need to know,
this is the verse on my daughter's grave)
[KJV] The
secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are
revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do
all the words of this law.
[NIV] The
secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong
to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words
of this law. |
 This
verse is an especially dear one to me. When my daughter died, of course
I went through hysterics, to include yelling at God, "Why my
baby. Why not a sick baby, or a crack baby, or a deformed baby, WHY MY
BABY.?" I was so angry with God for taking away the most precious
thing on Earth to me, after He'd just given her to me. But the odd part,
is the hysterics only lasted alittle while. Dr. Finley was there with me.
The same Doctor who had delivered her right there in my apartment, was
there with me and had to pronounce her dead. He was holding me while I
cried, and suddenly, an incredible wave of peace and comfort came over
me. This is something I know the majority of people reading will never
understand, so you will have to take my word for it. But I kid you not,
it was as if God Himself had wrapped his arms around me and told
me, "I have my reasons." Of course I mourned... I will never "get
over" losing my little girl.
I know God has his own reasons and He will tell me what
I need to know. Even our Father who art in Heaven, has secrets,
and our Father knows best. This verse echo's through my head more
often than any other. It is a source of patience and tolerance for me.
If you listen , He will comfort you always.
This verse is on Raechel's headstone. I was never so sure of my faith and
my salvation as I have been since I lost Raechel. Without my Faith, I wouldn't
have made it to this day alive. Thank you Lord. |

give thanks to him in song. |

those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those
who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because
of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had
not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life
and reigned with Christ a thousand years. |

into captivity he will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with
the sword he will be killed. This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness
